Why this is a guide and not a calculator
We checked the BC PNP pages on October 19, 2026. For the Base category, the official guide (effective May 27, 2024, still the current edition) gave the score structure, the thresholds and the point bands for the first three factors in full. The Regional guide (also effective May 27, 2024) gave the Regional structure and section maximums. The bands for the last three self-declared Base factors, and the Regional point bands, could not be opened in our review. Mixing confirmed and unconfirmed points would give a score that looks precise but may be wrong, so this page shows only what the official guide confirms.

The Base score: self-declared and business concept
You declare the first part when you register. The BC PNP scores the second part after it reviews your business concept, which staff do within an estimated six weeks.
| Part | Factor | Maximum | Minimum to qualify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Self-declared | Experience and ownership | 24 | 8 |
| Self-declared | Net worth | 12 | 5 |
| Self-declared | Total personal investment | 20 | 8 |
| Self-declared | Jobs created or maintained | 12 | see the guide |
| Self-declared | Development region (B.C. regional district) | 12 | see the guide |
| Self-declared | Adaptability | 40 | see the guide |
| Business concept | Commercial viability | 30 | 40 for the whole business concept |
| Business concept | Transferability of skills | 15 | |
| Business concept | Economic benefits | 35 |
The guide states that you must meet the minimum for every section. Your self-declared subtotal (out of 120) and your business concept score (out of 80) must add up to at least 115, and the business concept must be at least 40. So the business concept score you need is the larger of 40 and 115 minus your self-declared subtotal. For example, a self-declared subtotal of 80 needs at least 40, and a subtotal of 60 needs at least 55.

Registration, fees and the pool
- Registration is done through the BC PNP Online User Portal. Registering does not guarantee an invitation.
- Eligible registrations enter a qualified pool for up to six months or until an invitation is issued. Invitations go to qualified registrations received before each draw date, and the BC PNP publishes the minimum score of every round (see the table below). There is no fixed invitation threshold.
- Before you apply, an accounting firm authorized by the BC PNP verifies your net worth and how you accumulated your funds; the verification report is valid for 12 months. After an invitation you have four months (120 days) to submit a complete application.
- Fees: registration $300, application $3,500 and request for review $500. Fees are paid only through the portal.
