What a high-wage occupation is
Under Express Entry, an occupation is high-wage if the median wage of everyone in Canada working in that National Occupational Classification (NOC) is at least 1.3 times the average median wage of the overall Canadian workforce. The level belongs to the occupation, not to you: your own salary does not decide or change it.
IRCC groups high-wage occupations into three levels:
- 2× level: median wage at least twice the average median wage (31 occupations)
- 1.5× level: at least 1.5 times, but less than twice (89 occupations)
- 1.3× level: at least 1.3 times, but less than 1.5 times (66 occupations)
That makes 186 occupations in total. IRCC uses data from Job Bank, the Labour Force Survey and the Census of Population over the last 3 years. The first list is based on 2023 to 2025 data. Each NOC is placed at the highest level its median wage reached in those 3 years.
How the levels turn into CRS points
From November 3, 2026, the Labour Market Integration factor gives you points for either your Canadian work experience or a qualifying job offer, whichever gives the higher score. The two do not add together. The maximum is 150 points.
| Route | With a spouse or partner | Without a spouse or partner |
|---|---|---|
| Canadian work experience (maximum) | 140: 70 for length of work + 70 high-wage | 150: 80 for length of work + 70 high-wage |
| Qualifying job offer (maximum) | 100 | 100 |
High-wage experience points (added to the existing work-length points)
| Qualifying Canadian work experience | Points |
|---|---|
| At least 12 months in one or more 2× occupations | 70 |
| Otherwise, at least 12 months combined in 1.5× (or higher) occupations | 40 |
| Otherwise, at least 12 months combined in 1.3× (or higher) occupations | 20 |
| Less than 12 months in high-wage occupations | 0 |
The 12 months (1,560 hours) must meet the existing rules for qualifying Canadian work experience. They can be continuous or not, full-time or an equal amount of part-time, and combined across more than one high-wage job. If you held two jobs at the same time, hours count only up to 30 per week. Work-length points stay as they are now (for example 40 points for 1 year without a spouse, up to 80 for 5 years or more).
Job-offer points
| Job offer in an occupation at | Points |
|---|---|
| 2× level | 100 |
| 1.5× level | 70 |
| 1.3× level | 50 |
| Not a high-wage occupation | 0 |
The job offer must be valid under Express Entry. From November 3, 2026, an LMIA is no longer needed for a job offer to count for program eligibility or CRS points, and having an LMIA no longer adds points or priority. An officer will check that the offer is genuine when you apply. Skills transferability points are not changing.

If the list changes
IRCC will update the list over time. If an occupation is added, removed or moves to another level after you receive an invitation to apply (ITA), IRCC keeps using the level that applied on the date you were invited.
This list is used only for CRS points. It is separate from the occupation lists of category-based selection and from LMIA wage rules. Before choosing a NOC, compare its lead statement and main duties with your actual work; our NOC finder can help.
What happens on November 3, 2026
- IRCC will recalculate the CRS score of every profile in the pool. This may take up to two weeks.
- Invitation rounds will pause during the recalculation and restart when it is complete.
- If you have a valid job offer without an LMIA that is not in your profile yet, IRCC says you should add it.
